By Kathryn Trudeau

It seems as if summer is finally relinquishing its grasp and allowing autumn to make an appearance, and autumn means a few things: pumpkin spice everything, crunching in the leaves, and Halloween. It also means it’s that time of the year to make a major decision: what is your child going to be for Halloween?

You have a few options:

  • Grab something at the store, but choices can be limited
  • Order something custom, but that can be costly
  • Go the homemade route

If you’re limited on time, check out these last-minute T-shirt costume ideas. If you have a little bit more time, however, consider one of these eight homemade Halloween costume ideas.

Get in Touch with the 80’s

The nice thing about this costume is that it is super comfortable! What’s better for strolling around the neighborhood trick-or-treating than a sweatsuit, sneakers, and leg warmers?! If you don’t have a stuffed boombox, no worries!

This is what you can do instead:

  1. Print out a picture of a boom box on an 8x10 piece of paper
  2. Cut out the boom box and glue in onto a piece of cardboard
  3. Cover with contact paper (or clear packing tape if you’re in a pinch!)

Tip: If your toddler has longer hair, swoop her hair to the side for an 80’s-inspired side pony tail!
