6 Things You Must Do Before the Summer Slips Away
Summer is in full swing and you should be too! With less than 7 full weeks left in the season, now is the time to start crossing some things off of your summer bucket list. We’ve made a list of 5 traditional summer activities you should probably do before you’re snowed in!
1. Reconnect with old friends
In general, people are more social in the warmer months. Now is a great time to take out your little black book and reach out to the people you’ve been meaning to spend time with. Map out your re-connection itinerary before it gets cold and hibernation mode kicks in again.
2. Have a picnic or a BBQ
Having a family picnic is a simple way to bond with your loved ones in the summertime. Gather up your favorite foods in a basket and go all out with this old-fashion but fun tradition. Picnics are a ton of fun for people of all ages, so this is a great outing to reconnect. Much like picnics, having a BBQ is a great way for everyone to enjoy themselves and reconnect over food as well.
3. Start planting a garden
‘Tis the season to nurture flowers, herbs, spices vegetables right in your backyard. Gardening can be therapeutic for you and the whole family! You can make gardening a decorative project to give your yard new character with your favorite flowers or take this time to grow spices and foods you can actually cook with.
4. Indulge in water activities
Visit the body of water nearest you, whether that’s a river, ocean or a pond. Indulge in all the joy water has to offer. From swimming and surfing to fishing and laying out by the poolside, there are countless water activities to enjoy. Being around water is an easy way to feel like you’re vacationing even if you’re in your hometown.
5. Get some housework done
In the summer you’ve got more time and more energy than you do in the winter. Take a weekend to focus on deep cleansing your storage closet, or reupholstering the garage. The weather will also permit you to repaint your house, clean out the gutters and re-shingle that roof once and for all. On the fun side of things, now is also a great time to implement a redesigning adventure you’ve been putting off.
6. Do something you’ve never done before
What’s your wildest dream? We would argue that summer is the perfect time to live that dream. Years from now, when you tell your friends and family about that time you went skydiving, fly-boarding, started a business or even got married, you can say “It all started in summer 2015.” That just has a ring to it. Happy summer!

Written by Stephanie Parker from Sleepingbaby.com, inventor of the Zipadee-Zip
The motto for Sleeping Baby, makers of the Zipadee-Zip, is: “Inspiring Dreams One Night at A time,” and that, in a nutshell, is how it all started…with one little dream that has since become the Parker family’s reality. When Brett and Stephanie Parker’s daughter, Charlotte, was born, the feeling that welled up inside of them was indescribable; they never realized until first looking into those baby blues of hers that they were even capable of that kind of love. When it was time to transition baby from swaddling, the Parkers tried every sleep sack on the market and every swaddle weaning trick they could find for nearly two weeks and nothing worked to get baby Charlotte to fall and stay asleep.
Stephanie became determined to restore sleep and sanity to their household and set out to find a solution that would soothe Charlotte’s startle reflex and provide her the cozy womb-like environment she loved so much but still give her the freedom to roll over and wiggle around in her crib safely. Out of sheer desperation and exhaustion, the Zipadee-Zip was born. The first Zipadee-Zip(R) Stephanie put together on her little sewing machine worked like magic!
To date tens of thousands of Zipadee-Zips have been sold and all from word-of-mouth marketing. It is so rewarding for the Parkers to see other parents and babies getting the sleep they both need and deserve!
