8 Kid Safety Items Designed by Moms

June is both National Safety Month and National Child Safety Month. As parents, we want to do whatever we can to keep our children safe from harm. When accidents occur, they can be devastating. Moms and dads go above and beyond to take care of their children and prevent harm every day, which is why they know best how to keep children safe. Several moms are using their know-how and creativity to invent amazing products to keep kids safe. In honor of this month, I want to share seven creative products (invented by moms!) that were especially designed for safety.

1. SwimZip

SwimZip is the UPF 50+ clothing brand people trust to keep themselves and their children sun safe and was designed by a mom and skin cancer survivor. With their signature designs with full zipper down the front rash guard shirts, SwimZip is so easy to put on and take off! SwimZip swimsuits, swimwear, bathing suits and accessories are made with the best materials to unmatched standards. SwimZip styles are one-of-a-kind, and we include a number of innovative design features.

2. Snap-n-Step

The Snap-n-Step is a simple to use product that saves time, eliminates frustration and keeps your children safe, both on and off the athletic field. All ages can benefit from the Snap-n-Step. Just tie the shoe lace and place the Snap-n-Step around the lace and snap into place! The velcro inside helps hold everything together!

3. Elmo Safety Table Cover

Finally, a solution that protects your children from sharp table edges and corners. Our safety table cover is a one of a kind product that protects children from bumps and bruises, as well as protecting your furniture. A must have for all new parents looking for innovative solutions in child proofing your home. Safety table cover features 2 products in 1. First it's a safety cover for your coffee table and our educational pattern utilizes Elmo and cookie monster as a fun tool to help your child learn. Elmo and cookie monster drop in to help you show your little ones their ABC's, primary colors, numbers, shapes and more. It is reversible and is a neutral beige color on the opposite side. Our safety table cover cushions sharp table edges and protects children when learning to crawl and walk. Elastic band goes the entire way around the product and holds the pad firmly in place.

4. Parking Pal Magnet

Parking lots are dangerous and it only takes a few seconds for a tragedy to occur, keep your kids safe with the Parking Pal. The Parking Pal is designed to be placed on the side of your vehicle, where it will remain safely attached at all times. It was specifically created with bright colors, playful illustrations, and a small palm children love to place their hands on. After a couple learning sessions, your child will discover that the Parking Pal is their safe spot, and they will know where to go the second they are outside the car. It also helps teach them that parking lots are no place to play.

5 Zipadee-Zip

The Zipadee-Zip by Sleeping Baby is a sleep garment made to help your baby safely transition out of a swaddle. This transition swaddle will enclose your baby for the comfort and security he/she needs while remaining flexible for movement. Baby has full use of his arms so he can position and adjust himself, and it prevents night-time scratching. It allows baby to move freely while providing him with the security he needs.

6. AllerMates

Allergy Alert wristbands are bright, colorful, fun and designed to be noticed. Each features a unique AllerMates character and raised, bold lettering indicating a specific allergy. Wristbands can be stacked for multiple allergies, too. They come with three adjustable snaps to fit most kids from 2 years old and up, including many adult wrists. They're hypo-allergenic, latex-free, nickel-free and waterproof, and our products meet or exceed all US and European safety standards. Each band measures approximately 7" long.

7. Germy Wormy

Germy Wormy is a fun, interactive target zone to help kids adopt the habit of cough/sneeze into your elbow/sleeve. Cover coughs with sleeves is best but when kids cough and sneeze into their sleeve, their sleeves get germy and they wear it all day. When Germy Wormy gets germy toss it and the germs away! Give kids a fun place to give their germs to instead of everywhere else!

8. coverPlug(TM)

The paintable coverPlug is one product with two uses: it puts physical and visual barrier between your family and electrical receptacles, and it covers unsightly outlets that stand out from the walls. It is a durable, molded panel that can be painted for an exact match of your walls then pressed into place over the faceplate. No tools needed. For a safer home and seamless walls.

Guest blog by Denise Whitney, inventor of Parking Pal

Denise is a homeschooling mom of 3 boys who also works part time as an RN. She found myself stressed out in parking lots trying to manage 2 other kids while getting the baby in and out of the van. The idea of the Parking Pal was born: a fun, colorful magnet used by parents, grandparents, or any other caregivers to help teach children responsibility in parking lots and around vehicles. It is a visual for kids to know where to stand while their parent is loading/unloading another child, digging for keys, etc. She has also released her second, the Penalty Pal (time-out spot). Both moms and kids absolutely love their products!
